Chest of drawers in trophy marquetry and neoclassical vases - Lot 423
Chest of drawers in trophy marquetry and neoclassical vases on an amaranth background in rosewood surrounds, curved on the front and sides, opening to two drawers resting on arched uprights and legs, decorated with golden bronze; top of grey Sainte-Anne marble; (lack of veneer inside the legs) Stamp of Mondon and JME (twice at the tops of the jambs), for François Antoine MONDON, cabinetmaker received master in 1757 Louis XV period, around 1770 H. 89 cm : 89 cm ; W. : 96 cm ; D. : 56 cm Restorations This piece of furniture illustrates the rare combination of a piece of furniture with moving shapes as they were made during the reign of Louis XV with a neoclassical decoration. This trend is of course different from the straight upright chests of drawers with arched legs and clearly shows the stylistic richness of the transition periods.
