TEILHARD DE CHARDIN
TEILHARD OF CHARDEN (Stone). Autograph letter signed, to [Erwin H.] Ackerknecht. Berkeley, july 15, [19]52. 1 page 1/2 in-8, on illustrated letterhead from the Hotel Durant in Berkeley. Interesting letter, addressed to the medical historian Erwin Heinz Ackernecht (1906-1988), who taught at the time at the University of Wisconsin. Teilhard de Chardin requests the collaboration of his correspondent, with a view to setting up an innovative teaching of the human sciences: "[] You are certainly one of those with whom I feel that I will be able to get along best and collaborate for the development (and the birth!) of a Human Science that would no longer be (finally!) a department of Belles-Lettres or medicine, but an extension of Physics and Biology []. Further on, he asks Ackerknecht to encourage Paul Fejos, director of the Wenner-Gren Foundation, in this sense.
