In-8, 390 p. (including the title, the first 26 in roman numerals), [1] f. (privil.), front, pl., contemporary mottled and glazed havana calf, spine with 5 nerves, garnet morocco title-piece, ornamented caissons, red edges (negligible rubbing, small snag at edge of head-board, one corner slightly dulled). Uncommon first edition, illustrated with a frontispiece engraved by B. Audran, and 6 plates also engraved on copper, showing various instruments, including stills.
