(title), VI p., [5] f., 271 p., [2] f., contemporary speckled fawn basane, spine with 5 nerves, author's name, gilt fleurons and fillets, gilt arms on the boards, red edges (superficial rubbing, 2 corners dulled; a few browned ff., very light stains pp.146-150). New edition of the works of Guillaume Crétin (c. 1460 - 1525), chronicler of King François I, in his time appreciated by Geoffroy Tory, Jean Molinet and Jean Lemaire de Belges, and to whom Clément Marot dedicated a collection of epigrams. He was less appreciated by Rabelais who mocked him, making him appear in his Pantagruel as Raminagrobis (according to the editor's introduction). Binding with the speaking arms related to the house of La Tour.
