Two volumes in one in-4, [4] f., pp. [5]-130, [2] f., pp. [5]-116, period green half-chagrin with corners, spine with 4 nerves, author and title gilt (some rubbing to the spine, one corner dulled, browning to the text, foxing generally limited to the margins of the plates) First edition in French of this amply illustrated work, the text of which is the work of the English poetess Emma Roberts (1794-1840) who spent several years in India around 1830. The illustration consists of 2 frontispieces, one of which is in colour, 2 illustrated engraved titles, and 60 steel-engraved plates from the drawings of the naval officer Robert Elliot. Ex-libris stamp on the title, H. Delcamp.
