Identical bindings in recent marbled tan basane, smooth and decorated spine, gilt author and title, gilt fillet bordering the boards, gilt head, covers preserved, untrimmed [Lambert]. The autographed letters are all marked "His devoted colleague, Émile Zola", except for the last one, Le Docteur Pascal, which is marked, "His friend, Émile Zola". 1. La curée. Paris, Libr. internationale A. Lacroix, Verboeckhoven & Cie, 1871. In-18, 360 p. First edition of the second part of Les Rougon-Macquart. As usual the cover bears the date of 1872.
