Stained, stuccoed and polychrome limewood or poplar statuette depicting Mary with a cherub at her feet. The new Eve, standing on a crescent moon, treads a coiled serpent with her feet, symbolizing victory over evil and sin. She is adorned with a mantle richly decorated with gold-embellished motifs. France, circa 1750 H. 22 cm Some missing parts, notably the clasped hands, a small fragment at the edge of the cloak on the right arm, and polychromy, particularly on the reverse.
