[Manuscript]. [Nobility]. Memorandum on the... - Lot 203 - Normandy Auction
[Manuscript]. [Nobility]. Memorandum on the proofs of nobility of Mr. Chevalier du Plessis d'Argentré who asks to have the honor of riding in the king's carriages. [Circa 1860]. Large folio (ca. 54x35 cm), in sheets under original cover with handwritten title (cover stained with gaps, small snags and negligible soiling in margins). Collection relating to the procedure of admission to the honors of the court which benefited members of the Du Plessis d'Argentré family, one of the most important of the Breton nobility, in 1774. Calligraphy copy of old documents, in ink on wove paper from Montgolfier in Annonay. It is composed of three parts. The first ([5] pages) is the memoir itself (from a document dated 1774 signed by Cherin), followed by a statement of services in the Navy, also from a 1774 writing, by Sieur Du Plessis d'Argentré. The second part ([1] leaf, [31] pages) is entitled: "Généalogie de Messire Jean Baptiste Du Plessis d'Argentré...", according to a document of 1774 signed by Cherin. Finally, the last part, "Proof of the nobility of Pierre Du Plessis d'Argentré..." ([6] pages) reproduces an act dated 1689 and signed by d'Hozier.
