In-4 oblong, publisher's binding in navy blue percaline, title gilt on upper cover (small tear without loss to illustrated cover, slight russeting to first 2 ff. then negligible). Rare series of photos reproduced in photogravure on the Boxer Rebellion of 1899-1900, which was suppressed by the dispatch of troops from several countries, including Japan, Russia, France, America and Germany. An important document in Chinese history. The work consists of a preserved color illustrated cover, [3] f. including the title page, 58 plates and one leaf. Two corners of the title have been neatly cut away.
