Embossed and chased silver ciborium resting on a circular ba - Lot 273
Embossed and chased silver ciborium resting on a circular base edged with a partly openwork foliage frieze underlined by a line of pearls, the domed part decorated with foliage, fruit and chubby angels' heads surrounded by outstretched wings. The stem is composed of rings, decorated with water leaves and a baluster-shaped bow decorated with chubby angels' heads with wings in full bloom. The false bowl (which can be unscrewed) is decorated in the same way as the lid, topped with a cross. The inside of the bowl and lid in vermeil. Late 17th or early 18th century, possibly Chambéry M.O.: crowned FM H. 29.5 cm Weight: 660 g. Hallmark and M.O. only on the base, split under the reverse, minor accidents, restorations and missing parts.
