TERROIRS DE DHUISY (Seine-et-Marne) AND MONTREUIL-AUX-LIONS - Lot 250
TERROIRS DE DHUISY (Seine-et-Marne) AND MONTREUIL-AUX-LIONS (Aisne) DASSY des MARCHAIS family Interesting survey and boundary marking register, drawn up in 1843 by Claude ROUGIE, surveyor in LIZY-SUR-OURCQ, MEAUX district, comprising 74 items detailing lands, woods, lakes, meadows, forests and other properties, mainly owned by the DASSY des MARCHAIS family and other adjoining owners, with several numbered watercolor plans and the signatures of all the owners of said parcels, drawn up at the request of Marie Rose TURQUET, widow of Claude René Gaspard DASSY. 106 pages, good condition, some spotting. Bound (binding damaged), 32 x 25 cm Provenance: DASSY des MARCHAIS family, then Jacques DUMONT de MONTROY collection. Claude DASSY des MARCHAIS (1755-1837), General Councillor of Seine-et-Marne, President of the Commercial Court of MEAUX, had built up his considerable fortune in trading and accumulated numerous collections. His portrait, by Charlemagne Oscar GUET, and that of his wife, Marie Rose TURQUET, daughter of a former administrator of the SENLIS hospice, show him posing in front of a majestic Chinese lacquer desk, which sold for 115,000 euros at DROUOT (COUTAU-BEGARIE sale, October 15, 2008). His collection also included earthenware tiles from the kilns of MASSEOT ABAQUESNE, the famous 16th-century Rouen potter, which were pre-empted by the Musée de la Renaissance at DROUOT in 1979. Bibliography: Jean-Marie CAMARTY, Les DASSY, chronique d'une famille meldoise, 1999.
